I went to roller derby for the first time last night. It was absolutely brilliant. I am so disappointed that I just found out about it now as I am about to leave New York. 2 teams skate around the track, with the goal being for their team jammer to pass as many of the other team during each bout. It's live action extraordinaire, very exciting to watch and the passion and intensity was thrilling. The crowd is refreshingly diverse and nearly as entertaining as the athletes.
