Oh I'm so happy today. I've been at Google for 18 months. It was such a struggle at first. I found the change really hard. The lack of direction and flat structure made it so much harder to understand how to succeed here. Remembering how much I had to fight to get through those first 9 months (and I'm sure my Mum remembers too because she talked me through enough depressed and discouraged phonecalls) I'm especially proud and pleased today because I got promoted.
The performance management process here is based upon reviews from the people that you work with, your peers. Knowing that the people I work with, enjoy working with me is enough encouragement and motivation to keep me going for another 18 months with the same enthusiasm I feel today.
